EMBRACE KIDS LEADERSHIP
At Embrace Church, nobody simply “serves” with Embrace Kids. Instead we “lead” our Embrace Kids on teams that are committed to know and love kids and their families in our church. There are many types of roles that people hold in doing this, allowing 6th graders all the way up through senior adults to lead in ways that suit their capacity and giftings. Leaders are carefully selected, as they hold great responsibility in investing in this next generation of disciples.
TEAM LEADERS These adults begin in other leadership capacities in our ministry and eventually grow to being chosen for leading a team of 10-15 volunteers in one space every other week while serving on the team who meets monthly to plan and pray for Embrace Kids as a whole.
STORYTELLERS These adults are gifted teachers who deliver the Bible story message to our kids in either the Road or the Harbor on a regular basis. They serve in other supplemental roles in our ministry on an every other week basis (including the weeks they teach), keeping them regularly connected to a team.
HOSTS These adults support the storyteller for the week in playing a dramatic role to add comedy, interaction, or other relevance to the message in The Road. This happens on an occasional basis. They serve in other supplemental roles in our ministry on an every other week basis (including the weeks they host), keeping them regularly connected to a team.
PRODUCTION LEADERS These adults run the technical aspect of worship in the Road on an every other week basis. They manage sound, lights, and video while keeping time and managing transitions for all who are involved in the worship service. They also help with security of our space during arrival and pick up times.
NURSERY CAREGIVERS These people ages 16 and up care for and pray for 4-5 infants and their families on an every other week basis.
MUSIC LEADERS These people ages 9th grade and up learn the words and motions to worship songs and lead kids in worship through song.
SMALL GROUP LEADERS The majority of our Embrace Kids leaders 9th grade and up hold this role. Small group leaders get to know a set group of kids of a specific age and their families for one school year, leading them on Sunday mornings every other week. They participate in worship with their group and then lead activities to reinforce the message for the week.
SMALL GROUP HELPERS These people ages 6th grade and up are usually middle school youth or new leaders without previous experience in our space. They support small group leaders by getting to know a set group of kids, staying with their group during all times the group is gathered every other Sunday, assisting with materials, and gradually beginning to lead some activities as they grow into their role.
MUSIC HELPERS These people ages 6th grade and up are usually middle school youth or people new to leading worship. They support the music leader by singing and doing motions on the stage during worship in the Road or the Harbor. They also serve in other supplemental roles when they’re not helping to lead worship.
WEEKDAY PREP HELPERS These people ages 6th grade and up meet at the church office on Wednesday afternoons from 12:30-2:00 p.m. to prepare lesson materials for Embrace Kids that week.
